Welcome to Pick Garden Tool. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

About This Site

Pick Garden Tool covers one problem: getting rakes, shovels, hoses and hand tools off the floor and into a spot where you can grab them. We review wall-mounted tool racks, rolling garden tool towers, garage rail and hook systems, hose storage and bucket organizers, and we write about how each one holds up in a real garage and a real backyard shed.

Garage and Shed Safety

Wall racks and rail systems are only as strong as what they are screwed into. Mount them into wall studs or use anchors rated for the load, and check the manufacturer's weight limit before you hang heavy items like wheelbarrows, ladders or loaded hose reels. A rack that pulls out of drywall can drop sharp, heavy tools on whoever is standing below.

Hang rakes, pitchforks and cultivators with the tines facing the wall and the heads up off the floor, so nobody steps on a rake or walks into a sharp edge. Keep blades on pruners, loppers and hand saws closed or sheathed in storage, and keep sharp tools above the reach of small children.

Store fertilizers, weed killers, fuel and other chemicals in their original containers on a separate shelf, away from tool storage and out of reach of children and pets. Drain and coil hoses so they are not a trip hazard, and keep walkways and the space around a rolling cart clear. Lift heavy carts and buckets with your legs, not your back, and get help with anything awkward.

This site shares general organizing experience, not professional installation or safety advice. Follow each product's own instructions and local codes, and ask a qualified installer if you are unsure about a wall or a load.
